Sharp lines approaching those of an actual clipper, yet she could carry in dead weight close to 1.600 tons. Well sparred and crossed three skysail yards. Described as a perfect gem in hull and rigging. Herald of the Morning was a three-masted square-rigged sailing ship, built in 1853 or 1854 at Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, expressly for the Australia run.
